Upholding the Right to Health: Rajasthan University of Health Sciences Holds Eighth Convocation Ceremony with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s Vision

The Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) held its eighth convocation ceremony today, where Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra emphasized the importance of strengthening medical services in backward, rural, and tribal areas of the state. Addressing the gathering, Mishra highlighted the challenges faced by the healthcare sector, including new diseases related to modern lifestyles, food, and the environment. He urged young doctors to reduce dependence on machines for treatment and consider the economic burden on patients and the adverse effects of radiation from machines.

Mishra also suggested that the university should work on digitizing ancient medical codes in libraries and make them accessible through e-libraries in medical colleges. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was also present at the event, lauded Rajasthan for being the first state in the country to enact a law granting the right to health to its citizens. He expressed the government’s commitment to the successful implementation of the Right to Health Services Act.

During the convocation ceremony, the Faculty of Nursing at RUHS awarded Gold Medals for B.Sc Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, as well as the Chancellor Gold Medal for M.Sc Nursing. Dr. Jogendra Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at RUHS and Vice President of the Indian Nursing Council (INC), addressed the nurses and doctors during the event, providing valuable insights and guidance.

Dr. Sharma, a respected healthcare professional and a key figure in the nursing community, highlighted the crucial role of nurses in healthcare delivery and the need for continuous professional development. He encouraged the graduating nurses to serve with compassion, dedication, and commitment in providing quality healthcare to all, especially in underserved areas. Dr. Sharma’s address inspired the young nurses and doctors, and his presence added significance to the convocation ceremony.

The eighth convocation ceremony of the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences was a momentous event, celebrating the achievements of the graduating healthcare professionals and reinforcing the importance of healthcare services in Rajasthan.
