Brazilian President thanks PM Modi for vaccines with an image of Hanuman carrying Sanjeevani

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has thanked the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, after receiving COVID-19 vaccines from India. His tweet has an interesting and touching image of Hanuman carrying Sanjeevani in the form of the coronavirus vaccines. He also stated that it is the honor of Brazil to have discovered a great partner to overcome a global obstacle by joining efforts. He thanked India and the PM profusely for helping with vaccine exports to Brazil from the country while signing off with Dhanyavaad. Very interestingly, on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti this year, President Bolsonaro had written to the Indian PM, referring to the Ramayana while talking about the coronavirus crisis globally.

He had previously described the efforts made by India for containing the coronavirus crisis as Hanuman and his mythical and famous Sanjeevani Booti. In his statement, Bolsonaro mentioned that just like Lord Hanuman brought the medicine from the Himalayas for saving the life of Lakshmana, the brother of Lord Rama and Jesus also healed those who were sick by restoring sight to Bartimeu, Brazil and India will be moving past this worldwide crisis by joining hands and also sharing blessings for the sake of all people.

This explains his latest tweet with the picture of Lord Hanuman carrying Sanjeevani Booti in the form of COVID-19 vaccines. Bolsonaro was previously Chief Guest at India’s 70th Republic Day celebrations earlier in 2020. Legend has it that when Lakshmana was near death after being pierced by an arrow aimed by Meghnad, the son of Ravana, Hanuman went to Sushena, the Royal Physician of Lanka for guidance. He asked Lord Hanuman to hasten to the Dronagiri Hills for getting four plants, namely Vishalyakarani or remover of arrows, Mruthasanjeevani or restorer of life, Sandhanakarani or restorer of skin and also Savarnyakarani or restorer of skin color. Hanuman brought back the whole hill with him and Lakshmana was saved from certain death. Lord Hanuman is one of the most revered Gods in India and is known for his role in the Ramayana. The Puranas state that Anjana was married to Kesari, the monkey chief and when they prayed for a son to Lord Shiva, Hanuman was born to the couple. He is also known as Vayu-Putra or the Wind’s Son and Kesari-Nandan or the Son of Kesari.
