On 10th September, the Delhi High Court moved a plea for the irregularity in paying the salary to supplementary nurse midwives, lady health visitors and public help nurses working at maternity homes, dispensaries and juvenile welfare centres administered by North Delhi Municipal Corporation.

It has been clarified that these social workers have not been recovering their hard-earned salary since the month of May.

This issue was debated before the bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan on Tuesday which recused from hearing it and directed that it to be presented before another bench.

The petition by the Hospital Employees Union, a registered trade union, has affirmed that despite the nurses working on the frontlines ever since the COVID-19 outbreak, they have not been paid their salaries on time.

Salary concerns are being raised by many nursing associations across the country, employers are not in the mood to quickly resolve the issues. Similarly, proper facilities of PPE kits, food and water were major concerns during lockdown. COVID-19 brought an immense pressure on the frontline healthcare workers
