India’s vaccination drive which started on 16th January is in full force. The plans were made straight towards the vaccination drive. During the first phase, all the health care workers and frontline workers were to be vaccinated. According to reports, 12 million doses have been given to date.
The vaccination plays a vital role after a sudden rise in infections. The number of cases is rising again which may impose greater problems. The speed of the vaccination program is also discussed among the authorities. It has been decided to increase the daily dose to 5 lakh in the next four to six weeks.
Maharashtra and Kerala have noticed a spurt in covid cases. Around 4000 cases were reported daily in the last week. Punjab, Kerala, and Maharashtra have also witnessed the new strain. The Central government in response to the rising cases may increase the vaccination by almost two times in 200 places in the country.
Prakash Javdekar recently announced the vaccination for people above the age of 60 years in a recent press conference. During the press meet, he mentioned the cost of the vaccine. It will be costless at the state’s vaccination centers. Whereas at a private center, there will be charges for each dose. Although the government has not decided the price of each dose.
It is also to be noted that the people who are suffering from comorbidities and are above 45 years can also avail themselves of the vaccine. The vaccination for both categories will start from 1 March in 10 thousand government centers and 20 thousand private centers.
