Education Board NNMC National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill 2020

Health Ministry is going to repeal the Indian Nursing Council and as a replacement, there are multiple boards, exams, and advisory council proposed in the Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill 2020.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Boards will have the below powers and functions

• Determine the minimum requirements and standards of nursing and midwifery education and examination
• Develop competency-based dynamic curriculum
• Prescribe the nursing and midwifery qualifications
• Frame guidelines for setting up of nursing and midwifery institutions
• Determine standards and norms for infrastructure, faculty, and quality of education in nursing institutions
• Determine standards and norms for infrastructure, faculty, and quality of education in nursing institutions
• Facilitate the development and training of faculty members for teaching, research as well as an international student and faculty exchange programs

• Frame policies and regulate standards for education, training, and services of nursing care
• Specify norms for compulsory annual disclosures, clinical facilities, faculty, electronically or otherwise
• Regulate the standards and scope of practice of registered nurses, midwives, nursing associates, and midwifery associates who have obtained the nursing and midwifery qualification as prescribed
• Make recommendations to the Commission
