As the covid-19 cases are increasing day by day likewise the troubles faced by nursing staff are also increasing. This time the reports came from the Patna, where the nursing staff has staged a protest against the injustice.
According to reports, the nursing staff from PMCH (Patna Medical College and Hospital) has started the agitation on Sunday. The reason behind the outrage by the staff is being the cancellation of application leaves till April 5.
The news was unaccepted by the nursing staff particularly women. They said that the cancellation of weekly offs, natural leaves, and festival leaves is an injustice towards them.
The authorities claimed that the increasing number of covid cases is the reason behind the difficult step. According to the authorities, proper steps must be taken with a full medical workforce at work so as to rationalize the second wave of covid 19.
CM Nitish Kumar held a meeting with the health officials to fight the surge in covid cases. He already guided the health department to trace the travel histories of people entering the state. Due to Holi on 29 March, a lot of migrant workers will be coming back to their homes, the government has intensified the checking at bus stands and railway stations. The CM has directed the authorities to make people aware of the second wave of the coronavirus and asked them to take utmost care and precautions.
The staff has requested to roll back the order as Holi is an auspicious occasion for the people of Bihar. They sat on Dharnas in the superintendent’s office and raised their voices against the government and CM Nitish Kumar for such an inhuman decision.
According to the decision, all those staff workers who are already on leaves must report back to their duties as soon as possible. The following are not allowed to take leaves till April 5, as per the directions issued by the government:-
- GNM employees
- ANM employees
- Medical superintendents, and
As per the stats, there are 472 active covid cases in the state. On the last day, Bihar reported 88 new cases with 41 being from Patna only. The state also reported 2 casualties due to Covid 19.
